Ham, Cheese-n-Egg Cup Bento
by yiddle on Jul.27, 2009, under The Geekery, bento
I ran across this recipe for Ham, Cheese-n-Egg Cups the other day and thought they’d be great for lunches, so I made some tonight. I had one for dinner, and it was really good. The kitties had one for dinner too, because I dropped one. They ate theirs faster than I ate mine. (continue reading…)

by yiddle on Jul.26, 2009, under The Geekery, bento
Check out those cute little teeny grapes! They’re Champagne grapes. Also known as Black Corinth grapes, they’re really sweet and fun to eat by themselves, but I thought they’d also be great in a salad. (continue reading…)

My First Attempt at Tsumami Kanzashi
by yiddle on Jul.18, 2009, under Random
This is my first attempt at the Japanese art of Tsumami Kanzashi. Tsumami Kanzashi involves folding silk fabric into floral ornaments that are worn in the hair. Of course, I’ve yiddle-ized it a bit. I used cotton fabric and added buttons as embellishments. I probably won’t wear this in my hair either, but it might look cute on a hat or a scarf or a tote or a pillow (or or or). I’ll find some place to use it
I was thinking this would be a cool way to recycle old clothes. This was made from eight 2 1/2″ squares of fabric, so it would be easy to cut around stains or holes in old clothes.
You can learn more about Tusmami Kanzashi over at craftster.

Tomorrow’s lunch is another help from the grocery store lunch. I know, I keep cheating. But it makes my life easier, and right now that’s good. Plus I was dying for inari the other day so I stopped and picked some up. (continue reading…)
Yellow Flowers Bento – Inspired by Golden Kiwi
by yiddle on Jul.14, 2009, under The Geekery, bento
I’ve always wanted to do a series of bentos inspired by different colors, but it’s so hard to find things in season to do them all in a row. Tonight when I was shopping I saw golden raspberries AND golden kiwi (I didn’t even know there WAS such a thing) and since I had made from scratch mac and cheese leftovers at home, I figured tonight was the perfect night to make a golden yellow bento.
