pink and yellow Kanzashi

This is my first attempt at the Japanese art of Tsumami Kanzashi.  Tsumami Kanzashi involves folding silk fabric into floral ornaments that are worn in the hair.  Of course, I’ve yiddle-ized it a bit.  I used cotton fabric and added buttons as embellishments.  I probably won’t wear this in my hair either, but it might look cute on a hat or a scarf or a tote or a pillow (or or or).  I’ll find some place to use it :P   I was thinking this would be a cool way to recycle old clothes.  This was made from eight 2 1/2″ squares of fabric, so it would be easy to cut around stains or holes in old clothes.

That turned out very pretty. You could even wear it as a necklace if you placed it on a strong backing and had large colorful (wooden?) beads to go with it.
