Since we FINALLY had a weekend without snow, I opened le Studio Garage this weekend.
Unfortunately I didn’t have D around to help me, because there was a lot of cleaning to do. Tons of leaves and dirt and everything else that blows around the neighborhood and into my garage had to be swept out.
I also discovered that my sonic anti-mouse device apparently scares mice to DEATH and not just OUT THE DOOR, because I found a dead mouse actually STUCK to the floor which I had to scrape up with a knife. EWWW.
After that I was so grossed out that I had to hose out the whole garage, and then the neighbor’s AC unit just to be nice, and then the cobwebs off the front of the house and the patio chairs just because by that time I was just having fun playing in the sun with the water hose.
After all that and some wine with the neighbors, I started in on this season’s first piece. Last season, I had started playing with Copic markers at the end of my process, so this season, I decided to start with them. Here’s a sneak preview of what I’m working on – stay tuned or follow @yiddle on twitter to see my progress.
hallo! sorry it’s been so long since i’ve been here. i’ve done a lot of work this summer, i’ll try to post pics up soon. for now, here’s a quick little paint i did of tinkle last night, who has become quite obsessed with a shoebox. she sits in the shoebox on my bed, dreaming of grand adventures.
I needed a diversion from the moon bunnies. I know I need to just sit down and finish that one, but it feels flat and icky and I don’t know exactly what it needs so I’ve been putting it off. Tonight I thought I should at least paint something, and this is one I’ve wanted to start for a while; my sister, doing what she does best, loving up one of her babies. I got a good start (see first image) but there’s a bunch of shape changes I still need to make before I start refining (see second image).
- Love, WIP
- Love, things to fix
Made small progress today, but managed to get the bubble ears and tails in on the moon bunnies.
I had a prof who told us you should do a self-portrait once a year. quick one. don’t spend a lot of time on it. this took about an hour. getting better at skin tones and highlights, need to work on hair techniques. (ugh, both painting AND my real hair. i’m so clueless about some girl things)
Sketched in Painter X, checked proportions against photo reference in Photoshop, returned to Painter X for painting. Was pleasantly surprised that my proportions were almost right on the first time.
I finally managed to start filling the Gallery.
I installed the lightbox 2 widget, which is better than the default gallery, but I still have some CSS work and possible alterations to do before I’m happy with it.
Still have more work to do on the theme itself, want to add digg links and such, just in case I ever get traffic, but now I better scoot to bed, it’s 1:29 a.m. already
