by yiddle on Dec.12, 2009, under Art, Digital Painting
Painting #3 in the Natsuko’s Nap series. In this dream, Natsuko’s found a penguin friend. Haven’t you always wanted to hug a penguin? Scanned origami paper, Painter X and Photoshop CS3.
The Nap – finished digital painting
by yiddle on Aug.15, 2009, under Art, Digital Painting
This is the first in what I hope will be a series of 12 digital paintings inspired by some gorgeous origami paper. I used Painter X and mainly focused on the Artist’s Oils and Sumi-e brushes. Tonight I finished off her feet and hands and cleaned up some edges. I told @ToddGallina I’d have her done by the 15th, and I squeaked in just under the deadline. I should have him make imaginary deadlines for me more often. I worked on the Cintiq at my new desk and I think I’m going to have to rearrange things a bit, my right arm and shoulder feel really tired even though I only spent about 2 hours on it.

Kiddo’s staying with a friend tonight, lucky me, because now I get the goodies I bought at United Noodles all to myself.
Japanese candies!
by yiddle on Mar.07, 2009, under The Geekery, bento
A co-worker of mine visited this week from our Tokyo office. She and the kiddo had fun when we went out for sushi last time she was here, so she brought him some gifts from Japan this visit. Thanks Mayumi! Part of the gift was some Japanese Meiji candies. We ate the Pokémon candies last night (kiddo was nice and shared) and we’re going to save the rest for our bento lunches. These were really yummy. Most of them were kind of like tart little skittles. Our favorites were some chocolate ones in the Pikachu box that were really yummy and had cool little yellow stars that ran through them. Of course I didn’t get those in the photo. Oops. I tried googling them, and I think they were Pokémon branded Choco Babies. I’m heading over to United Noodles today for some groceries so I’m going to see if they have any there.
