Pie Pops!  A fabulous idea that I can’t take credit for.  LuxiRare is the inventor of these yummy snacks.  I heard about them first through Bakerella‘s twitter feed, and then they were featured on Craftzine’s blog too.  I decided to try making them. 

I grabbed Paula Deen’s pie crust recipe and made my crust dough on Saturday, which I stowed in the fridge.  Today I made the apple filling by tossing some butter, apples, sugar and cinnamon in a saucepan and cooking until the apples were done to taste.  I followed the pictorial instructions of LuxiRare, and baked at 350 for about 10-12 minutes.  It took a couple batches to get the sticks to start staying put.  Well, that and I realized that they stay put better once completely cool.  Which took me eating about 5 of them warm to figure out.  It wasn’t until I was full that I realized that :)

I think making one big pie would probably be much easier.  But these were a fun thing to try once.  I’ll take a couple to work tomorrow for the girls who thought these were a fun idea, but I’ll save the rest for me and d.
